Dusseldorf Olympic Village Competition

The Eeles Trelease team won an invited international competition to design the athletes village as part of the Dusseldorf Olympic bid process. Other competitors were Otto Steidle (Munich), Rob Krier (Berlin), Herman Hertzberger (Amsterdam) and Nicholas Grimshaw (London). The winning design was distinguished from the others by use of the Rhein River as both arrival and ceremonial focus, forming the gateway to the Village.
